| acct analysis direct db: Practical ESM Analysis Sue Robertson, 2019-03-31 Written by a prominent expert in the field, this authoritative resource considers radar parameters and how they affect ESM systems. It describes the ESM environment, including types of radar, pulse density, the latest radar developments and how they will be seen by ESM systems. Different types of ESM systems are described, with methods of calculation of Direction of Arrival (DOA) of pulses. Conventional wisdom about RF scan strategies for narrow-band receivers will be challenged and new methods (proven to be effective in trials) will be proposed. The book describes ESM Antenna separation, which plays a significant part in the generation of DOA errors, with examples of the effects for different situations. The book will explain the common phenomena seen in ESM systems with many examples of how to recognize issues in the ESM data and solutions for their mitigation. Techniques for visualizing ESM data and how to set up ESM trials will be given, including the simulation of the electromagnetic environment. The book also presents detailed calculations for generating emitter beam-shapes for use in simulations of pulse trains and the calculation of detection range will be useful for data analysts, trials engineers and system assessors, which are not published elsewhere. The identification of radars by ESM systems is considered in detail with ideas presented on how to generate an effective radar library. |
| acct analysis direct db: Big Data Analysis on Global Community Formation and Isolation Yuichi Ikeda, Hiroshi Iyetomi, Takayuki Mizuno, 2021-06-12 In this book, the authors analyze big data on global interdependence caused by the flows of commodities, money, and people, using a network science approach to obtain differing views of globalization and to clarify the facts on isolation of communities. Globalization reduces international economic inequality, i.e., it allows emerging countries to catch up while it increases relative poverty in some advanced countries. How should this trade-off between international and domestic inequalities be resolved? At the same time, the reduction of biocultural diversity caused by globalization needs to be avoided. What kind of change is required in local communities to conserve biocultural diversity? On the issue of commodity flow, research results of the supply-chain network, isolation in industry, and resource flows and stocks are presented in this book. For monetary flow, ownership networks, value-added networks, and profit shifting were studied; and regarding the flow of people, linkage of ethnic groups, immigrant assimilation, and refugees were examined. Based on the resulting view of globalization and isolation, the development of the isolation index using machine learning is discussed. Finally, recommendations for evidence-based policymaking in the United Nations are considered. |

Trent Codd, III, Awab Abdel-Jalil, 2021-10-26 Nonlinear Contingency Analysis is a guide to treating clinically complex behavior problems such as delusions and hallucinations. It’s also a framework for treating behavior problems, one that explores solutions based on the creation of new or alternative consequential contingencies rather than the elimination or deceleration of old or problematic thoughts, feelings, or behaviors. Chapters present strategies, analytical tools, and interventions that clinicians can use in session to think about clients’ problems using decision theory, experimental analysis of behavior, and clinical research and practice. By treating thoughts and emotions not as causes of behavior but as indicators of the environmental conditions that are responsible for them, patients can use that knowledge to make changes that not only result in changes in behavior, but in the thoughts and feelings themselves. |
| acct analysis direct db: Model-Driven Risk Analysis Mass Soldal Lund, Bjørnar Solhaug, Ketil Stølen, 2010-10-20 The term “risk” is known from many fields, and we are used to references to contractual risk, economic risk, operational risk, legal risk, security risk, and so forth. We conduct risk analysis, using either offensive or defensive approaches to identify and assess risk. Offensive approaches are concerned with balancing potential gain against risk of investment loss, while defensive approaches are concerned with protecting assets that already exist. In this book, Lund, Solhaug and Stølen focus on defensive risk analysis, and more explicitly on a particular approach called CORAS. CORAS is a model-driven method for defensive risk analysis featuring a tool-supported modelling language specially designed to model risks. Their book serves as an introduction to risk analysis in general, including the central concepts and notions in risk analysis and their relations. The authors’ aim is to support risk analysts in conducting structured and stepwise risk analysis. To this end, the book is divided into three main parts. Part I of the book introduces and demonstrates the central concepts and notation used in CORAS, and is largely example-driven. Part II gives a thorough description of the CORAS method and modelling language. After having completed this part of the book, the reader should know enough to use the method in practice. Finally, Part III addresses issues that require special attention and treatment, but still are often encountered in real-life risk analysis and for which CORAS offers helpful advice and assistance. This part also includes a short presentation of the CORAS tool support. The main target groups of the book are IT practitioners and students at graduate or undergraduate level. They will appreciate a concise introduction into the emerging field of risk analysis, supported by a sound methodology, and completed with numerous examples and detailed guidelines. |

| acct analysis direct db: Direct Conversion Receivers in Wide-Band Systems Aarno Pärssinen, 2006-04-18 This book is based on my doctoral thesis at the Helsinki University of Technology. Several different projects during five years guided me from the basics of the RF IC design to the implementations of highly integrated radio receiver chips. Sharing time and effort between IC and system issues is not always straightforward. I have been lucky to follow both topics and share experiences with diligent and enthusiastic people having different specialities. As a result, this book will cover a wide range of different topics needed in the design of highly integrated radio receivers. Experiences from the first receiver prototypes for the third generation cellular systems form the basis of this book. Most of the issues are directly related to the early proposals of European and Japanese standardization organizations. For example, the chip rate was originally set to 4. 096 Mcps in a wide-band CDMA channel. I have kept that number in the book in most of the examples although it has been later changed to 3. 84 Mcps. I hope that the readers will accept that and the possible other incompabilities to the latest specifications. At least in the research phase the changes even in the most essential requirements are definitely not a rare incident and IC designers should be able to react and modify their designs as soon as they can. |

| acct analysis direct db: Systematic Modeling and Analysis of Telecom Frontends and their Building Blocks Piet Vanassche, Georges Gielen, Willy M. C. Sansen, 2005-09-01 To meet the demands of today's highly competitive market, analog electronics designers must develop their IC designs in a minimum of time. The difference between first- and second-time right seriously affects a company’s share of the market. Analog designers are therefore in need for structured design methods together with the theory and tools to support them, especially when pushing the performance limits in high-performance designs. Systematic Modeling and Analysis of Telecom Frontends and Their Building Blocks aims to help designers in speeding up telecommunication frontend design by offering an in-depth understanding of the frontend's behavior together with methods and algorithms that support designers in bringing this understanding to practice. The book treats topics such as time-varying phase-locked loop stability, noise in mixing circuits, oscillator injection locking, oscillator phase noise behavior, harmonic oscillator dynamics and many more. In doing so, it always starts from a theoretical foundation that is both rigorous and general. Phase-locked loop and mixer analysis, for example, are grounded upon a general framework for time-varying small-signal analysis. Likewise, analysis of harmonic oscillator transient behavior and oscillator phase noise analysis are treated as particular applications of a general framework for oscillator perturbation analysis. In order to make the book as easy to read as possible, all theory is always accompanied by numerous examples and easy-to-catch intuitive explanations. As such, the book is suited for both computer-aided design engineers looking for general theories and methods, either as background material or for practical implementation in tools, as well as for practicing circuit designers looking for help and insight in dealing with a particular application or a particular high-performance design problem. |

Norton Dudeque's achievement in this book involves the synthesis of Schoenberg's theoretical ideas from the whole of the composer's working life, including material only published well after his death. The book discusses Schoenberg's rejection of his German music theory heritage and past approaches to music-theory pedagogy, the need for looking at musical structures differently and to avoid aesthetic and stylistic issues. Dudeque provides a unique understanding of the systematization of Schoenberg's tonal-harmonic theory, thematic/motivic-development theory and the links with contemporary and past music theories. The book is complemented by a special section that explores the practical application of the theoretical material already discussed. The focus of this section is on Schoenberg's analytical practice, and the author's response to it. Norton Dudeque therefore provides a comprehensive understanding of Schoenberg's thinking on tonal harmony, motive and form that has hitherto not been attempted. |

| acct analysis direct db: Spectral Analysis for Physical Applications Donald B. Percival, Andrew T. Walden, 1993-06-03 This book is an up-to-date introduction to univariate spectral analysis at the graduate level, which reflects a new scientific awareness of spectral complexity, as well as the widespread use of spectral analysis on digital computers with considerable computational power. The text provides theoretical and computational guidance on the available techniques, emphasizing those that work in practice. Spectral analysis finds extensive application in the analysis of data arising in many of the physical sciences, ranging from electrical engineering and physics to geophysics and oceanography. A valuable feature of the text is that many examples are given showing the application of spectral analysis to real data sets. Special emphasis is placed on the multitaper technique, because of its practical success in handling spectra with intricate structure, and its power to handle data with or without spectral lines. The text contains a large number of exercises, together with an extensive bibliography. |
